Knight Optical's Calomel (mercurous chloride) infrared crystal polarisers are available as Glan-Foucault and Wollaston type. Calomel exhibits strong birefringence (Δn=0.683) and has an excellent extinction ratio (>1:10000), making it an ideal material for polarisation applications. Calomel positively transmits from 0.38µm through to 17µm, however it is ideal for applications requiring polarisation within the mid-IR (5-17µm).
The Wollaston polariser has two orthogonally polarised outputs (e-ray and o-ray) with a separation angle of 14°.
The Glan-Foucault polariser transmits the positively polarised o-ray.
The polarisers are mounted in 360° rotational mounts for better handling and aligment.
15x15mm apertures are available.
AR coatings for 3-5µm and 8-10µm wavebands are available.
